AYALA MUSEUM’S DESIGN TALKS: Inksurge
INKSURGE is the blend of Rex Advincula and Joyce Tai. Both graduates of computer courses, (Rex is a B.S. in Information Technology, Jois is B.S. Computer Science and B.A. Computer Arts in San Francisco), they met in their day jobs for a local IT firm – where they both got bored in their day to day work and decided to take the leap: creating a backyard design studio, meeting in coffee shops, and working from computers stationed in their parents' homes -- forming Inksurge.
Working by the principle of good design being just the right brew of a strong idea steeped in research and well-crafted visuals, all created over the perfect cup of coffee (Rex takes it with sugar, Jois takes it with milk), the now full-fledged design shop's portfolio includes websites, product packaging, print and illustration, commissioned art, even furniture and shoe designs for big names in fashion, music, arts, and services, both in the local and the international scene.
Driven by a surge of passion for design, experimentation, inking up new ideas and concocting unique imagery, the tandem has become a household icon in the local design sphere, also making waves globally -- with work featured in several design books and publications in Singapore, United States, Spain, and Germany.Always wide awake, Inksurge is sure to be brewing up something new.
